Voice for Wildlife Program

Discover how your voice can help protect wildlife.

Over four action-packed days this program will explore animal welfare, community campaigns, and behaviour change—all through the lens of Zoos Victoria’s Safe Cat, Safe Wildlife campaign. With behind-the-scenes experiences, expert mentoring, and visits to RSPCA and Parliament, this is a chance to make a difference in your community and be part of something bigger. 

This program is recommended for young people aged 14-18 years. 

A maximum of 30 participants so don't miss out! We require a minimum of 14 people to go ahead. 

Program sequence

Please note: 

Day 3 travel to RSPCA Burwood will be by private bus organised by Zoos Victoria.  

Day 4 travel to Parliament of Victoria will be by train as a group from Melbourne Zoo (requires own Myki)

Optional Additional Day

Saturday 26 or Sunday 27 October 2025 – Cat Lover’s Festival (Melbourne Showgrounds) to engage the public on responsible cat ownership alongside Zoos Victoria and RSPCA staff. 

What you'll experience

• Explore how modern zoos and the RSPCA care for animals and promote responsible pet ownership

• Go behind the scenes to see real conservation in action

• Investigate the science of behaviour change and its role in protecting wildlife

• Discover how local councils and Parliament shape community behaviour around animal welfare

• Build confidence, advocacy skills, and connections with others who care about animals and the environment 

BYO snacks, lunch and drink bottle. Food can also be purchased at Zoo cafés, RSPCA and in the CBD.

Important Information

• Please note, the zoo prioritises animal welfare and wellbeing, so participants will not be able to touch or hold any animals during this program. 

• This is an outdoor all-weather program; the participant will need appropriate clothing for weather conditions. This could include a raincoat, hat and sun protection.

• Parents/guardians are not required to attend. This is a drop-off program.

• Some activities within Zoo grounds where participants will not be under the direct supervision of a staff member.

• Participants must remain within the Zoo, RSPCA and Parliament of Victoria grounds throughout the program.

• Participants are responsible for providing and carrying with them any personal medication.

• First aid will be provided by a qualified Zoos Victoria First Aid Officer.
