----------
Rarely are actors given opportunities to work intensely on their craft outside of tertiary training systems. This workshop is a place for doing, not explaining: an opportunity to embody the work.
Hosted in the New Benner Theatre (Metro Arts) by Kat Roberts, one of Patsy Rodenburg’s Associate teachers, you will be led through a series of exercises in body, breath, voice and presence to uncover the natural voice, impact others and deepen your connection to self, text and audience.
Participants will work with a small group of skilled actors, each receiving a personal voice evaluation and specific, actionable feedback to apply to the delivery of a prepared text (participants are asked to bring in a monologue of their choice from a published play, on book or memorised).
Acting students, teachers and anyone else interested in this work are invited to observe and audit, with opportunity to take notes and ask questions.
Kat Roberts is a highly experienced voice and speech coach, Patsy Rodenburg Associate (PRA) and Voice Lecturer at JMC Academy (Brisbane). She is one of a handful of Australian teachers personally trained by Patsy Rodenburg.
