Event description

Join us for an insightful conversation recognising the contribution of individuals and community organisations standing up against racial discrimination.

Community voices: Rubina and Salvin will share their personal experiences of racism. Hear how they took action for racial justice and the challenges and triumphs of standing up against discrimination.

Guest speaker: Magdaline Shenton-Kaleido, settlement and community services manager at Advance Diversity Services, will shed light on their role supporting community members facing racism. Hear about their involvement in the Challenging Racism Project in partnership with University of Western Sydney. This project aims to better equip staff and the community services sector who service multicultural communities by providing up-to-date knowledge in the area of social cohesion.

Over the 2 hours, you’ll:

  • learn how intersectionality and justice work
  • build your understanding of racism and its impacts from a lived experience perspective
  • learn how to develop strategies to build safety in your own community.
