GUEST SPEAKERS:Â
Dr. Laura J. Shepherd – Professor, University of Sydney. Laura’s primary research focuses on the United Nations Security Council’s ‘Women, Peace and Security’ agenda. She has written extensively on the formulation of UNSCR1325 and subsequent Women, Peace and Security resolutions. Laura has conducted projects investigating logics of gender and space in UN peacebuilding discourse and examining advocacy around, and implementation of, the Women, Peace and Security agenda at global, national, and local levels. Hear from Laura about her work in the field of Women, Peace and Security.
Ruby Abercromby – President, UN Youth NSW. UN Youth Australia is a youth-led organisation that brings young people, community and global leaders together to equip the next generation of young leaders with the skills and inspiration to create meaningful change. Hear from Ruby on how the youth are making a difference in peacebuilding.
Benjamin Lee – Former UN Strategist. Ben has more than two decades of experience in international affairs, human rights, strategic advisory and diplomacy. He has served as a DFAT negotiator at the UN in Geneva, advised Myanmar’s pro-democracy government, led UN civilian casualty investigations in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria, and supported a bill of rights process in Northern Ireland.  Discover Ben's impact in the realm of peacebuilding.
