Event description

The Victorian local government elections are due to be held in October this year. That means we get to decide which councillors will represent us for the next 4 years.

Boroondara Council is dominated by right wing conservatives and is one of the most conservative councils in the state. The disconnect between the values and priorities of our councilors with those of our community has never been greater.

That needs to change!

So Voices of Kooyong is encouraging progressive community minded candidates to stand.

With this in mind we are inviting you to attend a public forum on 19th of May at 6:30pm at the Elgin Inn, Hawthorn to find out what is involved in the campaigns, to hear from three local councillors about what it means to be a councillor, and outline what is important to you this council election.

Are you the next Boroondara Councillor?

Kew and Hawthorn Independents (two local community groups) have offered to mentor prospective candidates and give them the knowledge, skills, strategy, and connections they need to get elected.

If you’d like the opportunity to meet their candidate mentors and learn more about what might be involved in standing please register at the form below.
