Volunteer Museums: Engagement with Aboriginal Cultural Heritage - Yarrawarra Aboriginal Cultural Centre

Presented in partnership by ACHAA and M&G NSW, with input from AMaGA chapters in the Hunter, Far North Coast and Mid North Coast, and funded by Create NSW.

This one-day, community-informed training equips museum volunteers and staff to work respectfully, ethically and confidently with Aboriginal Cultural Heritage. Using practical examples, case studies and Aboriginal-led perspectives, participants will gain the knowledge and skills to:

• engage ethically and respectfully with Aboriginal communities

• apply appropriate cultural protocols in collection care and interpretation

• accurately and authentically share Aboriginal stories and heritage

• reduce the risk of misrepresentation, cultural harm and missed opportunities for collaboration.
