Volunteer at Derby Day – 50-50 Charity Raffle for WLSQ

Date: Saturday, 31 October 2026
Location: Doomben Racecourse
Expected time: Approximately 11:00 am to 4:00 pm
Age requirement: Volunteers must be 18 years or older

Final arrival and finish times will be confirmed before the event.

Women’s Legal Service Queensland has been invited to raise funds through the 50-50 Charity Raffle at Brisbane Racing Club’s Derby Raceday, and we are looking for 12 to 15 wonderful volunteers to join us.

Volunteers will move throughout the racecourse speaking with racegoers and selling 50-50 Charity Raffle tickets. Every ticket sold will help raise vital funds for WLSQ’s free legal and support services for women experiencing domestic and family violence.

What you will be doing

• Attending a briefing and training session with the 50-50 Charity Raffle team.

• Speaking with racegoers and encouraging them to purchase raffle tickets.

• Selling tickets using the equipment provided.

• Representing WLSQ in a warm, positive and professional way.

No previous raffle or fundraising experience is required. Training will be provided at the beginning of the shift.

Volunteer requirements

Volunteers must:

• Be 18 years of age or older.

• Be comfortable approaching and speaking with members of the public.

• Be able to stand and walk for extended periods.

• Be available for the full volunteer shift.

• Follow the instructions provided by WLSQ, Brisbane Racing Club and the 50-50 Charity Raffle team.

Expected dress code

• Black pants or a black skirt.

• Comfortable, enclosed shoes.

• No jeans, ripped denim or sneakers.

Volunteer places are limited. Please register only if you are confident you can attend and complete the full shift.
