Vox Elders in Concert
Event description
Fred Campeau & Mitch Thomas and Gail & Paul Tyler (AKA Tyler Two), two veteran folk music couples are combining forces and performing as The Vox Elders.
Fred and Paul have played together for several decades as members of the Volo Bogtrotters. Some years back, Mitch and Gail led the country swing trio, the WAZO County Warblers, with their husbands making up half of The Flyboys, the WAZO backup band. Gail still performs occasionally with The Teflons, and Mitch plays regularly for Chicago Barn Dance Company contra dances.
Together they bring nearly two centuries worth of performing experience in a variety of traditional and old-time forms of folksong. They will serve up early country harmony, plaintive ballads and laments, fiddle tunes, and a hodgepodge of fun songs. Each band member plays several instruments including guitar, banjo, fiddle, various ukuleles, mandolin, tenor guitar, and bass.
All have reached some stage of retirement, except for music-making. They are busier than ever.
