The workshop

Anti-racism isn’t just a concept—it’s something we practice every day in how we think, speak, and show up for each other.

This workshop creates a space to have real conversations about racism as it appears in our everyday lives—at work, in our communities, and in our relationships.

Together, we’ll unpack what racism can look like beyond the obvious, and explore how we can respond in ways that are thoughtful, accountable, and grounded in respect.

Guided by lived experience and practical insight, this session will explore:

How racism shows up in everyday interactions, systems, and spaces
Reflecting on our own identities, assumptions, and privileges
What cultural safety looks like in practice—not just in theory
How to respond to racism and microaggressions in the moment
Moving beyond performative allyship into meaningful, ongoing action

This isn’t about getting it perfect—it’s about being open, willing to learn, and prepared to do the work.

Participants will leave with practical tools, language, and a clearer understanding of how to show up in ways that support safer, more inclusive spaces for everyone.

*Please note: there are limited place for this workshop, please only book if you are committed to attending and be mindful to cancel if your plans change.

*A giant thank you to the Town of Vic Park for making this event possible and Dulux for the paints!

*This workshop marks National Reconciliation Week (27 May - 3 June) and falls after National Sorry Day (26 May).

The Collective Artwork

After the workshop, participants are invited to take a moment to pause, connect, and reflect over afternoon tea and drinks.

From there, we will move from thinking into doing, and from a cerebral space into embodied action.

You’ll be invited to contribute to a new collective artwork at VPCC, creating a visual commitment to continuing the work of anti-racism and reconcilliation. Guided by Kerri (VPCC Manager) and Kat (Local Artist), participants will stencil a Sorry Day native hibiscus flower as part of this shared piece.

No experience is needed—just a willingness to take part. All materials will be provided.
