VPCC Event: Harmony Week - Stories of the Strip

248 Gloucester St
East Victoria Park WA, Australia
Add to calendar

Description

Stories of the Strip is a celebration of the many stories, myths, legends, and everyday moments that make our local community what it is. From memories passed down through generations to personal reflections on place, belonging, and change — this night is all about the voices of Victoria Park AND embracing what's both joyous and challenging for migrants on Harmony Week.

Throughout the evening, local speakers will share their stories, feelings, journeys, and experiences of being part of Vic Park — through a mix of spoken word, conversation, and creative storytelling. Whether heartfelt, funny, reflective, or unexpected, each story adds another layer to the rich tapestry of the Strip.

Hosted by local artists Natalie de Rozario and Gok-Lim Finch, the night promises local history, community vibes, and a curious, open-hearted spirit of connection.

And it’s not just about listening — there will be lots of gentle, welcoming ways for everyone to share their own stories too. From informal chats and prompts to moments of collective reflection, you’re invited to take part at whatever level feels right for you.

To keep things very Vic Park, food will be available on the night, so you can nibble and chat.

Speakers to be announced shortly.

Registration is free, but spots will be limited — bookings encouraged.

Harmony Week is a time to celebrate the many cultures that make up our community. It also aligns with the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on 21 March, reminding us that building an inclusive community means actively standing against racism in all its forms.

Accessibility VPCC has step free access and gender-neutral toilets. This event will provide seating both on chairs and the floor. Please contact Tracy on: community@vicparkcc.org.au. If you have any access requirements and we will do our best to accommodate these.

Proudly supported by the Victoria Park Community Centre and the Town of Victoria Park.
