W. Dawn Memorial 2025
Event description
Happy New Year to all our Fencing Community and welcome to registration for our first open competition of 2025!
We’re excited to be up and running again and look forward to seeing you at the Netball Waitakere Centre, Te Pai Place, Henderson.
This will be a non-ranking event and as this our first open tournament of the year, we will focus on an FUN & FRIENDLY OCCASION . If numbers permit we would like trial some variations on the traditional ‘Pool Round followed by Direct Elimination’ format employed in formal ranking competitions.
Depending on entry numbers in the various events we will use formats to try to maximise the amount of fencing for everyone. It will definitely mean lots of chocolate on offer.
Decisions about the format(s) will be made by the DT, and if possible communicated to fencers before the day.
12/2/25 UPDATE - Based on the numbers registered to date the plan is to base the tournament on a series of pool rounds, followed by friendly team matches. The team compositions will be derived from the primary compettion results and will be put together by the D T.
Final format will ultimately be determined by the number of attendees on the day after new entries, withdrawals etc.
WE HOPE THIS WILL BE A FUN, ICE REAKER EVENT TO START THE YEAR!!
The objective for the day is to have fun!
