Football (Soccer) Competition (*qualifying event)

Dates: Saturday 17 June 2023

Time: 2.30pm to 5.30pm

Location: Aquinas College, 58 Mount Henry Rd, Salter Point WA 6152

Cost: $20

Competition details: 

Special Olympics local competitions are for children and adults with intellectual disabilities and autism, who wish to compete against other athletes in their chosen sport, and qualify for Special Olympics' state and national competitions. They include:

- A high-quality competition, with multiple divisions for beginner, intermediate and advanced players

- Qualified umpires and game support officers

- Award presentation, with prizes and certificates

- Performance results and feedback

- Fun unified events (where athletes with and without intellectual disabilities play together)

Competition schedule: (*draft only)

2:30pm – Welcome

2:40pm - Warm-up / skill assessments 

3:20pm - Football matches (5-a-side and/or 7-a-side)

4:30pm – Fun unified match/es

4:45pm – Award presentations

Note: The final schedule will be included in the information pack sent out to all athletes prior to the day once registrations have been received.

Who can get involved? 

- Athletes who are registered as 2023 Special Olympics members 

- Athletes who train and/or compete in an existing football (soccer) club or program

- Athletes who want to become eligible to compete in upcoming Special Olympics state and national competitions, including our upcoming 2023 State Games 

How to register: 

To compete in the competition, athletes must register online via this page by Friday 9 June. Athletes register as an individual player, and teams will be determined on the day.

Before the day, all registered athletes will receive an information pack with further information on the event.
