WA Good Food Guide Wine Awards & Festival 2024
Event description
The 2024 West Australian Good Food Guide Wine Awards & Festival
Monday October 14, 2024.
Luna Leederville | The Leederville Precinct
Helmed by some of Australia’s most innovative and respected wine talent, this event is set to be a hot ticket for industry professionals and those keen to engage with West Australian wine culture.
This one-day event includes our prestigious awards ceremony held at Luna Cinemas Leederville at 6.30pm, alongside a programme of screenings of all-time great wine films and thought-provoking panel discussions throughout the day.
In typical WA Good Food Guide style, an informal networking party with excellent West Australian produce, music, and free-flowing drinks is included in the ticket price. Alongside an evolving events program and a special WAGFG Top 25 wines tasting on the rooftop at The Leederville Precinct.
Wine is an elemental part of the WA hospitality experience, from eating and drinking to touring our diverse and world-renowned wine regions. The awards spotlight the breadth and diversity of our wine talent and regions. In the lead-up to this event, our panel blind-tastes, benchmarks, discusses, debates, and re-tastes over 400 West Australian wines to hone a selection of the Top 25 wines of the year.
The juding panel this year is co-chaired by two of WA’s most respected wine voices, sommelier Emma Farrelly (State Buildings) and wine writer Erin Larkin (Wine Advocate). From interstate, we welcome Leanne Altmann, a WSET Educator and Beverage Director for Trader House Restaurant Group. Mike Bennie, our long-term former chair who has played a critical role in the evolution of these awards, returns as a judge, curator, and host, while long-time friend and supporter of WAGFG, writer, and raconteur Nick Ryan (The Australian) joins us from the Clare Valley. West Australian oenophiles need no introduction to a name synonymous with wine in the West, Ray Jordan (WA Wine Review).
