WA Gould League Quenda Count - Training

Calling all citizen scientists and nature enthusiasts!

This training session is to learn how you can get involved in the 2026 Quenda Count!

You're invited to take part in the Quenda Count, a community citizen science project coordinated by the WA Gould League in partnership with the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) and quenda researcher Dr. Amanda Kristancic.

The count aims to gather valuable information about the distribution and activity of quendas (southwestern brown bandicoots) in suburban gardens, parks and bushland reserves. By recording signs such as diggings, tracks, nests or direct sightings, community members can help scientists and local governments better understand how quendas use urban habitats and where conservation efforts should be focused. If you don't see any quendas during surveys, it is especially important to share these results, to help identify where quenda populations may be struggling.
