Hosted by The Jock Clough Marine Foundation, WA World Ocean Day brings together scientists, ocean lovers, industry and the broader community to connect with and celebrate our unique marine environment.

Here in Western Australia, we're lucky to call nearly 13,000 kilometres of coastline our own. Home to one of the most diverse and remarkable marine environments in the world, the ocean shapes our lifestyle, our culture, and our connection to place. Like oceans around the world, WA's marine environment is changing, making it more important than ever to understand, appreciate, and stay connected to the ocean around us.

Join us on June 8 for an evening by the water - hearing from leading voices across marine science and conservation, and gaining a deeper appreciation for what makes WA's ocean so special. Whether you're in the water every weekend or simply appreciate the coast, this is an opportunity to come together and celebrate it.

THE PROGRAM

The evening is structured around two panel conversations, each bringing together leading voices from across WA's marine science and conservation community.

Panel One — Wild West Waters

From the ancient seagrass meadows of Shark Bay to the untouched reefs of the Kimberley, Western Australia's marine environment is unlike anywhere else on Earth. This panel explores what makes WA's ocean so remarkable; the species, the science, and the stories of discovery still unfolding beneath the surface.

Panel Two — Turning Tides

Our oceans are changing and WA is not immune. This panel brings together scientists and conservationists working at the frontline of that change, exploring what it means for our marine environment and, importantly, what we as a community can do about it.

ON THE NIGHT

Roger Swainston Exhibition — Rock Lobsters of the World

On the night, we are thrilled to host an exclusive showcase of Roger's latest and most ambitious project: Rock Lobsters of the World — a breathtaking collection of life-size paintings of 36 of the world's rock lobster species, each created from live specimens with the extraordinary detail and artistry that has made Roger's work truly world-class.

Blank Walls — Community Coral Mural

Local street art collective Blank Walls will unveil a community-produced coral mural on the night — a celebration of WA's reef life brought to life through collaboration and creativity.

Ocean Stalls

A curated selection of ocean-driven organisations and stallholders will be on hand throughout the evening — offering the chance to connect, learn and get involved with the people doing meaningful work for WA's marine environment. (Stallholders to be announced.)

Plus: Live music, an exclusive World Ocean Day beer from Gage Roads, and ocean-themed prizes to be won.
