The Western Australian Council of Social Service are pleased to welcome you to the State Budget Submission and Annual General Meeting.

Each year, WACOSS provides the Western Australian Government with a State Budget Submission which reflects the sector's priorities for expenditure in the following State Budget. The Submission is a culmination of sector-wide consultation, forming a significant part of WACOSS policy and advocacy work, and influencing funding decisions for community services organisations across Western Australia.

Following the State Budget Submission, members are invited to stay for the 2021 WACOSS Annual General Meeting.

The AGM is a wonderful opportunity for our members to be involved in welcoming the newly appointed WACOSS Board Members, and reflect on the significant work of WACOSS within the Community Service sector.

The Western Australian Council of Social Service has a vision for an inclusive, just and equitable society. Our purpose is to drive social change with communities, through collective action and policy formulation, strengthening community services and influencing decision makers to ensure justice and equity. As the peak body for the Western Australian community service sector, we believe that communities flourish where people are given the opportunity to contribute and create. To create equitable and empowered communities, WACOSS must be a strong Peak body voice that works with its members to advocate with and on behalf of those who are the furthest from levers of power and influence, to amplify their concerns, their voices, and seek justice, to create a society that genuinely works for the benefit of all. To change the systems, behaviours and attitudes that perpetuates entrenched poverty, inequity and exclusion WACOSS challenges and develops alternative solutions to systematic structures, community priorities and galvanises community support. We also partner with the national Council of Social Service network, as one of nine peak councils of the community services sector across Australia to ensure that there is a Western Australian perspective on the national stage. WACOSS is bold in its ambition, challenging belief structures and cultural norms, and building community empathy. It is time for us as a community to come together and create a fair and just society. We invite all Western Australians to join with us and our 300 members to drive change and overcome entrenched poverty, inequity and exclusion.
