Guitars: Recording & Production - Workshop

If you are into recording guitars, whether it's an acoustic guitar, electric guitar or a bass, whether you're using a DI, an amp or a combination, this interactive workshop will explore recording and mixing techniques that will greatly improve your sound.

The workshop will look at the types of microphones used and their placement for capturing the right tone, amp and guitar settings, double-tracking techniques and recording FX. You will witness some simple mixing techniques that can turn a one-dimensional guitar into an immersive sonic experience. If your a pro or a beginner this workshop will demonstrate techniques that are used by the best recording engineers in the world that could be applied to your recordings with your current set-up now.

Please arrive 15 minutes before the event and be seated before the advertised start time. Attendees are invited to bring their instrument.

SAM CUTRI

Sam Cutri is an accomplished music producer, recordist, mix engineer and educator.

Sam has been an artist, music producer and mix engineer for over 20 years, and more recently produces videos for artists. Sam has worked at Rocking Horse Studios in Byron Bay and now records at Loop Studios in Perth, Western Australia. His production credits include VDELLI, Cam Blake, Otiuh, The Gusset, Atlas Chasers and Aysha Amani. Sam also creates music for picture. Argentinian Escape was awarded “Best Score” at the West Australian Screen Awards in 2013.

Sam is a passionate educator and began teaching music production at WAAPA in 2003. He now teaches audio production at SAE Institute.
