CHARLIE MGEE

Charlie Mgee is the ukulele strumming front-muppet for the world-renowned ecological funk/swing band, Formidable Vegetable. Growing up in a tin shed in Pemberton with a veggie garden, a composting toilet and one solar panel for power, Charlie lived the low-impact lifestyle from a young age and realised early on that you don’t need a lot to be happy in life.

In 2011, Charlie went off to study permaculture and soon after, formed Formidable Vegetable – a new kind of band based entirely around principles of sustainable living with the hope of inspiring people everywhere to grow regenerative gardens/lives/communities and generally make the world a better place.

More recently, Charlie and the band have performed at many Australian and international festivals, including Glastonbury (UK), Secret Garden Party (UK), BOOM (Portugal), Shambhala (Canada), Symbiosis (USA), Woodford (QLD) and Rainbow Serpent (VIC) to delightfully packed dance floors and venues.

UKE NOMAD

Country folk jazz duo, Anu Grace & Laurie Bycroft are UKE NOMAD, singing up the places & people they met as they toured Australasia for years with their community music work - The Pop Up Ukestra.

Tenor and bass ukulele, amped & looped with flute, mouth scat & stomp box, Uke Nomads' original & contemporary music grabs you by the Heart. Stories of place, people & relationship to country include their rendition of Waltzing Matilda, chosen to front the
new Waltzing Matilda Song collection in Winton QLD last year.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BUSSELTON UKULELE GROUP

Busselton Ukulele Group (BUG) was established in 2015 and was the start of the ukulele explosion in Busselton!

There are 20 members who were mostly beginners but are now proficient ukers who have continued to expand their skills and repertoire to include a variety of genres from popular music to classical and more recently bluegrass. BUG has invited and hosted international musicians and continues to perform across the community in the Busselton region.   BUG performed at Strings Attached in 2019 and some of the group also organised a community jam.

Our performance for Strings Attached 2021 will demonstrate the versatility of  this instrument along with vocal harmonies and a few surprises!
