Description

From Concept to Controller: How to Launch a Game is an online professional development workshop designed to help Western Australian game developers approach game development through a sustainable business lens. The workshop focuses on practical, industry-relevant fundamentals that many teams struggle with when moving from “making a game” to “shipping and selling a product,” including:

  • project/team/business structure

  • schedule and budgeting basics

  • target market definition

  • risk identification and mitigation

  • milestones and production planning

  • the role of publishing and publishing contracts

The session is designed to support:

  • emerging teams preparing to seek funding, grants, or publishing

  • established studios tightening commercial and production planning

  • regional practitioners, due to statewide online accessibility

Following the workshop, 5 practitioners will be selected to have a FREE 1-on-1 with Jon to discuss and workshop their current projects. These sessions will take place in the two weeks following the event at a time that aligns with each person's schedule.

Proudly supported by Screenwest, this workshop is part of a commitment to strengthen Western Australia’s game development sector by providing local creators with access to practical industry knowledge, commercial skills, and professional development opportunities.
