Wāhine on Water
Event description
Dive into the Moana. Explore, adventure and have fun with other North Shore Wāhine.
Moana course for young woman between the ages of 18 - 24yrs . An opportunity to immerse yourself in adventurous water activities, gain new skills and knowledge of a range of ocean sports and activities.
Participate in kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, surfing, freediving and sailing. Connect with the ocean and a group of like minded wāhine. No experience necessary just a passion for the ocean. Equipment and gear provided. Funding is specifically for wāhine located on the North Shore of Auckland between the ages 18-24yrs. Just a 100 dollar koha to join the group.

What's Included:
Evening sessions
Once a month evening seminar sessions will teach theory behind confidently heading out on to the water. Teaching you skills needed to carry on recreating in the moana in a safe, fun way. Ocean skills will be developed, knowledge of weather and necessary equipment, risk management and a chance to bond with like minded wāhine. Followed by an ocean dip or walk on the beach.

Sunday sessions
weekend sessions. Sunday morning 2 hour session of water skills development. Paddleboarding, sailing, snorkeling, kayaking and surfing and more.
13th March 10am-12 - Long Bay
22nd May
Overnight Adventures
9-10th April - Multi-activity overnight trip to Tāwharanui Regional Park and Marine Reserve. Explore the area and participate in outdoor adventurous activities such as paddleboarding, hiking, kayaking, surfing (condition dependent). Camp overnight.
Dates TBC- Overnight adventure - Choose one from the following activities:
Sailing through a marine reserve and camping in a regional park, snorkeling and freediving weekend. Sea kayaking overnight trip. Surf adventure and overnight camping.
