Embrace the opportunity to connect with like-minded wāhine.
Learn new skills and experience the ocean with Wāhine on Water
Stay overnight at the Sir Peter Blake Marine Education and Recreation Centre and join us for an
unforgettable weekend of water activities utilising the gear at our beachfront facility. An opportunity to
explore the Long Bay-Okura Marine Reserve and the regional park. Depending on weather conditions a mix of
adventurous water sports will be on offer, options range from kayaking, sailing, paddle boarding, or surfing and include a morning swim, freediving theory and breath hold workshop. In the evening connect with other women through campfire chats and marshmallow
roasting.
Knowledgeable female leaders from the Sir Peter Blake Marine Education and Recreation Centre will support you to take part in
adventurous water activities, and gain new skills and knowledge of a range of ocean sports and activities. Complete
beginners to expert water women are invited. No experience is necessary, the most important thing to bring is a positive attitude and an open mind.
All necessary equipment and gear will be provided for the activities. Meals are not included. Bring
along your togs, towel, overnight bag and food. We'll be staying in our seaside accommodation- the MERC bunk rooms, so bring a sleeping bag and a pillow.
