    FUNDRAISER TREK - to help Waihora Pony Club fix up parts of our beloved clubrooms that have asbestos

    Come on a friendly trek on the hills of a working Banks Peninsula farm in the region of Kaituna Valley with a sausage sizzle lunch.
    Enjoy trekking on farm tracks and hills for panoramic views across Te Waihora, Lake Ellesmere, to the sea. All situated right on Christchurch’s doorstep.

    There will be different trek options (fast, slow and flat easy). Children are very welcome but must be accompanied by an adult on the ride. Parents are encouraged to walk with the younger ones.

    No dogs please – this is a working farm.

    We look forward to seeing you, your mount and your mates/family members there. Please share this invitation to all horsey friends.

    Time:  Arrive 9.30am. Briefing at 10 am. Fast group be mounted ready to go from 10am. Slow group and Flat easy can tack up after briefing, then ready to leave at 10.30.

    Cost: $55 per horse including a sausage sizzle lunch plus cookie, fruit and drink (parents/drivers with no horse: $5 for lunch)

    Trek/ticket options: This is a self-guided trek and you will be given instructions before setting off. There will be options as follows:

    1. Easy flat loop (suitable for young children and lead reins - easy walk for mum and dad)   
    2. Farmland hill trek - 1 ½ hrs to 2 ½ approx depending on rider speed. There will be a fast group and a slow group leaving at different times.       
    3. Parent/assistant walking (no horse) including lunch

    Everyone entering the farm must present their ticket to gain entry   

    Tickets will be limited due to covid restrictions so book yourselves in now!

    Closing date for tickets: 5pm Friday 25th March (No gate sales)

    Bring cash on the day and BYO cup for coffee

    And here’s the fine print:

    Vaccine pass required – must be shown on entry

    The venue is a working farm and electric fences will be on. The tracks will be in a reasonable condition but there may be under-runners to watch out for. Horses must keep to the marked tracks. No vehicles allowed on the trek/farm: all vehicles must stay in the float parking area.

    A guide will be available for the slow farmland hill trek for those riders not already in a group

    Horses must be over 3 yrs old and require a good level of fitness for the hill rides

    Trek is over farmland on formed tracks mixed terrain from flat, rolling hills, and a couple of steeper rocky sections

    Whichever trek you are on it is VERY IMPORTANT that you do not approach another group at speed.

    Helmets to be worn

    No stallions or rigs

    Please clean manure and hay from around floats

    Please take all rubbish home

    Maximum one parent/assistant/helper per rider
