This is a Business Wairarapa Event, facilitated by Nevis Training

Promoted your best team member into a manager role? Being great at the job and leading the people who do it are two very different skills.

New managers are often promoted because they're reliable, skilled and trusted. Then, overnight, they're the one who has to raise lateness, low performance or tension in the team, often with people who were their workmates last week. Without the right tools, many avoid those conversations altogether. Small issues grow, standards slip, and your new manager ends up stressed, second-guessing themselves, or thinking about leaving.

This practical workshop gives them the confidence and structure to handle hard conversations early, clearly and respectfully.

What you'll learn

Why difficult conversations get avoided, and how to speak up early
How to prepare: clarifying the purpose, outcome and key messages
A simple structure that keeps conversations focused and constructive
How to communicate directly while staying respectful and professional
How to stay calm when someone gets defensive or emotional
How to address issues and keep the working relationship strong
An action plan for a real conversation you need to have

Who should attend

New and emerging managers, supervisors, team leaders, and business owners who want to grow their people. Not a new manager? If there's a conversation you've been putting off, this one's for you too.
