Waite 100 Gala
Event description
The exclusive Waite 100 Gala will be a black-tie, stand-up cocktail affair celebrating 100 years of the enduring Waite Gift.
Featuring food by celebrity chef Matt Moran and supported by East End Cellars, this night of nights is a once-in-a-lifetime event not to be missed.
Now in its 100th year, the Waite Campus has become home to the largest concentration of agricultural and wine research and teaching expertise in the southern hemisphere. This celebration will take place on the lawns adjacent the historic Urrbrae House - where the Waite family lived from 1877 until 1922 - under the enchanting light of a sailcloth tent.
The evening will commence with the opportunity to sample exclusive wines from a range of emerging, mid-career and legacy alumni winemakers such as Peter Fraser from Yangarra Estate Vineyard and Emma Wood from Wirra Wirra Vineyard.
A carefully curated menu of canapés and food producer stations from Matt Moran will put the research conducted at the Waite campus centre stage, with matched wines to follow bringing the story of Waite to life and celebrating the extraordinary achievements made possible by the Waite family.
Join us in celebrating the journey of discovery and innovation in agriculture, food, and wine over the past 100 years of our ever-evolving campus.
Guests will be joined by MC and Master of Wine Andrew Caillard, founder of Langton's - Australia's leading wine auction house - and a wine marketing graduate from Roseworthy who will lead the exciting live auction. On offer: exclusive, money-can't-buy items and experiences including a limited-edition leather-bound issue of The Australian Ark by Caillard, a commemorative bottle of Waite 100 whisky, Tasting Australia Airlines: Limestone Coast tickets, an exclusive Matt Moran-hosted dinner with Peter Lehmann Wines at Aria Restaurant in Sydney and several international and interstate premium wine experiences plucked from the University of Adelaide's global alumni network. A silent auction will also be available, featuring a selection of rare and large-format premium wines.
A full line-up of talent showcasing University of Adelaide talent will provide a musical accompaniment to the evening, culminating in a very special performance by internationally recognised opera singer Teddy Tahu Rhodes, newly appointed to the Elder Conservatorium of Music as teacher and mentor in the Classical Voice department.
All ticket sales and funds raised on the night will contribute to the Peter Waite Centenary Scholarship for Excellence in Agriculture which supports outstanding future leaders in agriculture.
