Join us for a meaningful morning at AGPN’s Breast Screening Awareness Breakfast, where good food meets a great cause. This special event supports The Breast Screen Initiative, a national program led by AGPN to improve early breast cancer detection and reduce preventable deaths through smarter systems, public education, and system reform.

You're Invited to Help Change the Story on Breast Cancer Detection

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among Australian women—1 in 7 will be diagnosed in their lifetime. Early detection lifts survival to over 98%, but only 55% of eligible women are currently screened. In remote areas, participation is even lower.

The Breast Screen Initiative is working to:

  • Build a national breast screening registry so no one falls through the cracks.

  • Raise awareness about breast density, a key risk and screening barrier.

  • Deliver tools to help women and GPs make informed screening decisions.

Together, we can create lasting change—one that delivers early detection and better outcomes for all Australians.

Breast cancer touches the lives of so many, with over 20,000 Australian women diagnosed each year. Early detection through screening is one of the most effective ways to improve outcomes, with research showing that early detection can increase the 5-year survival rate to over 90%. Despite this, only about 54% of eligible Australian women participate in regular breast screening. By attending our 'Wake Up To Early Detection' Breakfast, you will be contributing directly to vital research that will help make breast screening more accessible and effective for women across Australia. Together, we can make a difference in the fight against breast cancer while enjoying a meaningful morning in great company.
