Walcha is known for its wild natural wonders, wonderful art, and fascinating Indigenous and European heritage.

Surrounded by thousands of hectares of World Heritage-listed wilderness, national parks and state forests, the Walcha area is threaded with wild rivers that lead to awe-inspiring gorges and waterfalls.

Walcha has a rich history as the oldest settlement in the New England region. Take in the gorgeous historic buildings and all that lies within them; art galleries, antiques, boutiques, handmade wares, cafes, taphouse, pubs and more.

Day One: (MT, L, D)                                                       Mon 14th October 24

Departing Port Coach Terminal at 08:30 we then head West out on the Oxley Highway. Enjoy the views as we drive through Bago, Long Flat and Mount Seaview before arriving at Stockyard Creek for morning tea from the coach. Lunch today is at The Falls Picnic Area. Our own packed picnic! Arriving in the Walcha Region our fist stop is Aspley Falls. Magnificent views! Our next stop is Langford House. A grand Edwardian Mansion located on Thunderbolts Way. Join the guided tour with the owners. Our final stop of the day before checking in is Walcha Pioneer Cottage and Museum. The complex houses a variety of historical buildings dating back to the 1860s. Arrive and check-in to New England Motor Lodge for the next three nights. Tonight, dinner is onsite.

Day Two: (B, L & D)                                                     Tuesday 15th October 24

After breakfast we head North along Thunderbolts way to McCrossin’s Mill. Built in 1870, the Mill is a lovingly restored three storey flour mill which now houses a multi-award-winning Museum, Gallery & Function Centre. Less than a kilometre away we visit the New England Brass and Iron Lace Foundry a heritage-listed former foundry and now tourist attraction. Leaving Uralla, we head West to the Gostwyck Chapel - All Saints Anglican Church. Gostwyck All Saints is a memorial to Mayor CC Dangar and is located on Gostwyck Station. Our picnic lunch today is courtesy of the NEML which we will enjoy in Alma Park. The change of direct is South on the New England Highway to Dobson's Distillery in Kentucky. Enjoy a few nips! Whilst in Kentucky we cannot leave without a visit to Captain Thunderbolt's Death Site. Back to the Lodge to freshen up before dinner on site.

Day Three(B, L, D)                               Wednesday 16th October 24

After breakfast we head out to New England Cheese in Nowendoc. (TBC) Enjoy tastings and time for shopping! Lunch today is at the Peel In Hotel, Nundle. You will have time to wander the village of Nundle before we take a tour of the Nundle Woollen Mill , a store, and a re-connection with Australia’s wool heritage. Back at the Lodge freshen up before dinner on site.

Day Four: (B, MT, L)                                 Thursday 17th October 24

After breakfast it is time to check out and say goodbye to Walcha. We are stopping at Wollombi Falls Picnic Area for morning tea and plenty of time to take in the wonder of nature. Lunch today is at the Old Butter Factory Café, Bellingen. Yes, there will be a little time for shopping! The last leg of our Walcha Tour, we hope you have enjoyed your travels and made many memories and new friends.

Refund policy

Cancellation fees will be levied relative to the amount of notice given: 42 days or more—loss of deposit 29-41 days: 50% of fare plus deposit 30 days before and the Day of departure: 100% of the fare. In the case of concert or sporting tours, where admission tickets are purchased in advance, a minimum cancellation fee equivalent to the cost of admission ticket fees will apply. Some accommodations require prepayment and refunds will be subject to their conditions.
