Following an Acknowledgment of Country, this informal Walk & Talk event will be led by Andrew Lees, President of the Friends of Yarra Flats Park along with a Waterways Officer from Melbourne Water, a Parks Victoria Ranger and a Yarra Riverkeeper Association stormwater advisor.

They will talk about the extensive conservation measures planned by Melbourne Water, as well as the Friends of Yarra Flats Park Group. The focus will be on the area’s rich history, the more recent restoration works, the area’s flora and fauna and Melbourne Water’s extensive plans to rejuvenate the billabongs and storm water ponds in the northern sector of the park.

Meeting Point: Meet in the Yarra Flats Carpark, see map below.

Accessibility: Part of this walk is inaccessible for wheelchairs and prams. Riverfest welcomes everyone—we’re committed to making our events accessible and inclusive for people of all abilities. If you have accessibility needs and require support to attend, please email carolyn.tate@yarrariver.org.au

Acknowledgement of Country

The Yarra Riverkeeper Association acknowledges that the lands and waterways of the Yarra, Birrarung catchment, are the unceded territories of the Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung and Bunurong peoples. We pay respect to Traditional Owners, who have, and continue, to care for Country. We acknowledge that the river now called Yarra has always been known as the Birrarung by its custodians.
