Walk for Truth Solidarity Gathering
Description
Bring your family, friends, signs and voices and join members of Reconciliation Banyule in celebrating the final day of the 'National Walk for Truth'.
After walking over 1000km from Melbourne to Canberra, on the 27th of May, former Yoorrook Justice Commissioner, Travis Lovett will finally arrive at Parliament House to meet with our Prime Minister!
Let's gather to shine a light on Truth-Telling in this country and celebrate this historic occasion together!
3:30- 4pm Arrive at the Yarning Circle at Eltham North Adventure Playground
4-4:30- Acknowledgement of Country and community walk (800m on mostly flat, paved pathways) to Edendale Community Environment Farm
4:30-5pm Cuppa & Chat.
FAQs
- Are kids welcome?
Absolutely! We hope to see lots of kids joining in and contributing their voices and energy to this celebration/discussion!
- Can I just come for part of the event?
Absolutely! Get there when you can. If you arrive after we have already left, make your way directly across the bridge to Edendale Farm and join us there.
Or walk with us and then continue the circuit strait back to the playground/parking.
- Where should I park?
We suggest parking at Eltham North Adventure playground. The return walk to your car (from Edendale) is an easy 400m stroll. Edendale's back gate will remain open until the close of this event.
If you have mobililty issues, are arriving late or are not joining the 800m walk please park at Edendale Farm instead.
- Do I need to bring anything?
Please wear comfortable shoes for walking and prepare for the elements (ie rain/sun protection).
If you would like to bring a plate of something to share for afternoon tea, that would be a bonus, however all we are asking you to bring is yourself...and any others who may want to join the celebration.
