🌅 Start your day with a sunrise walk beside Wai Whakaata Lake Hayes.

Walk Into Light is a relaxed 5km community walk for anyone who would like to slow down, start their day in nature and experience this gorgeous part of our backyard through a new lens.

🐦‍⬛ We’ll walk together at a gentle pace, pausing at stopping along the way to discover more about the native plants, birdlife and wider ecosystem surrounding us. This isn’t about counting steps or timing laps, it’s a chance to slow down and take notice of Te Taiao, the natural world, and our place in it.

After the walk, join us at Lake Hayes Pavilion for morning tea and activities to reflect and connect with others in this community we all call home.

Come on your own, bring the family or invite a friend. Whether you’re new to Queenstown or have called it home for years, absolutely everyone is welcome.

🌅 Walk Into Light is co-hosted by Headlight and Whakatipu Wildlife Trust, with support from local community organisations such as Friends of Lake Hayes and Whakatipu Reforestation Trust, as well as Queenstown Lakes District Council.

Time: Walk starts at 7am. All festivities conclude by 11am

Route: Approximately 5km there and back. Accessible track, dogs welcome on leash
