Description

This is a family-friendly event designed to raise awareness and support for people living with dementia, their carers, and the broader community. The event aims to bring together individuals, families, carers, support workers, local businesses, and community members in a positive and welcoming environment.

Participants can choose between a 2km or 4km walk/jog, promoting physical activity, social connection, and inclusion. You can also walk at your own pace.

The morning will begin with a group warm-up session led by a fitness instructor, followed by the walk/jog along a safe, accessible route suitable for people of all abilities. Along the course, information stations will provide practical resources and raise awareness about dementia, local supports, and ways to build a more dementia-friendly community. A medal presentation will celebrate all who take part, acknowledging the importance of community involvement in dementia awareness.

At the finish line, a free morning tea will provide an opportunity for participants to connect, share experiences, and engage with local dementia support organisations. The event will also serve as a fundraising initiative, with proceeds supporting dementia-friendly programs and services in the Darwin region.

This event is inclusive and accessible, welcoming people those living with dementia, their families, carers, support workers, and the wider community. By participating, the community takes an active step toward reducing stigma, strengthening support networks, and creating a more inclusive and compassionate city for people affected by dementia.
