Walk My Way Ukraine - ALWS & Team LORDS

This event has passed RSVP

Event description

When conflict started in Ukraine, children and their families couldn’t walk away – they had to run!

Sadly, much of the world has now turned its back and forgotten these children.

Through ALWS Walk My Way you can step out - your way - and help a Ukrainian child walk a new way – to safety, school, and someday back home.

Join us for a 3km or 12.5km walk along the iconic Brisbane River as we step out to support the people of Ukraine.
Every step that we take will be a reminder of the thousands of innocent civilian lives lost in the conflict… and every dollar that we raise will make a practical difference for children and families facing the tragedy of war.

Both walks will start and finish at a Community Hub… where traditional Ukrainian cuisine, cultural dance, and singing will give us a taste of Ukrainian culture. There will even be a special Kids Zone for children.

Whether you walk, run, or just come to enjoy the Community Hub … together we’ll send a special message of love and support from the heart of Brisbane to the people of Ukraine!

JOIN OUR TEAM LORDS TO WALK!

LORDS will pay your registration fee. Junior School children must walk with an adult/family, and Secondary students may walk alone if they choose, but still be part of our team with staff and other families.

Register now so we can submit our walkers as one group.

What a Walk!

We all know Brisbane is one of the most beautiful cities in the world… and one of the best ways to experience that is up close – walking!

You start your ALWS Walk My Way (3km or 12.5km) at QUT’s Gardens Point Campus, stepping out over the Goodwill Bridge and along the Brisbane River. Together we’ll stroll through Southbank and then, if you’re doing the full 12.5km walk we’ll continue along the river until we turn around at Orleigh Park, West End.

Here, you’ll be greeted with a snack and water, just as Ukrainian children were greeted as they reached safety on the border of countries like Poland.

We’ll then head back to the Community Hub, crossing at the Go-Between Bridge to walk back on the other side of the river.
