Walk with Birrarung
Description
Join Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation for a two-hour guided walk along Birrarung (the Yarra River), starting at Como Landing.
This event, part of this years’ Birrarung Riverfest, offers residents the chance to connect with the culture, stories and shared history of the area.
Learn about traditional rhythms and relationships between people and places along the Birrarung, hear about great local leaders, their resourcefulness and persistent resistance to European settlement and consolidate the value of ongoing and meaningful reconciliation.
This is a free event, but bookings are essential and places are limited.
This event is part of the 2026 Birrarung Riverfest. Celebrate the Yarra, Birrarung at one of 70+ events hosted over three weeks from 27 September to 18 October.
Whether you enjoy riverside walks, cleanups, creative workshops, wildlife spotting or paddling adventures, there's something for everyone at Riverfest.
Riverfest is presented by the Yarra Riverkeeper Association with thanks to our partners Burndap Birrarung burndap umarkoo collaboration and Water4Good. Check out the full Riverfest program here.
