“Walk with Us” – Celebrating International White Cane Day! City access walk and panel discussion
Description
Blind Citizens Australia (Tasmania branch) is collaborating with the City of Hobart to host a guided walk and panel discussion to promote International White Cane Day.
Join us for a guided walk and experience the city from the perspective of people who are blind or have low vision.
The walk will be followed by a panel discussion exploring accessibility, inclusion and lived experience.

Date: Thursday, 15 October 2026
Time: 11:00am to 1.30pm
Start point: Intersection of Elizabeth Street Mall and Liverpool Street – meet at the entrance to the Cat & Fiddle Arcade
BCA will greet people and set the scene – talk about the walk and invite people to pair up – ask people to consider a few questions and reflections
Path: Walk straight down Elizabeth Street past Collins Street and across to where Elizabeth meets Macquarie Street.
End Point: 50 Macquarie Street (Hobart Town Hall, situated right on the corner of Macquarie and Elizabeth Streets)
Panel discussion location and time: 50 Macquarie Street - panel discussion commencing at 12.30pm (light refreshments and networking from 11.45am)
