Walking Together - Stronger Together
Event description
our Interfaith Matters! Forum welcomes all who are curious and all who are interested to experience:
-
how we can celebrate the unique cultural and spiritual richness of our diverse community; andÂ
-
how our Indigenous folk connect with folk from each and every culture.
In 2024, the special theme of the Interfaith Matters! Forum events is:
            Celebrations,
commemorations, rituals and community-making in cultural and faithÂ
traditions - how do they help us explore and understand the
sacred, ourselves, our friends and family, and our
communities?
Our March event is: Walking Together, Stronger Together
On Wednesday
27 March, 6 - 9.30 pm, Â MC, Allen Edwards Snr, Kaurna-Kokatha elder, assisted by a panel, will
encourage us to discuss and explore how we can build community across both our similarities and our differences.
The evening will commence with a Welcome to Country, along with an explanation and discussion of this tradition.
Small group discussions, table by table, will be facilitated by table-leaders, and there will also be a Q&A. So there will be plenty of opportunities for interaction and the expression of a wide range of views. Â
Topics
will include:
-
Reconciliation - where to from here?
-
Do we have a multi-cultural Australia, or many silo-cultures?
-
Can celebrations help us to explore our own identity within our cultural and faith-traditions, and that of our diverse community?
-
How do we enrich our own identity when we attend feasts offered by Muslim / Hindu / Jewish / Seikh / Baha'i/ Christian / Buddhist communities?
Bring a friend, or come along and make some new ones:)
BYO food/nibbles and drinks (just like for a quiz-night) but no alcohol please.
