Walking Together training- Blue Mountains and Penrith

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Come together with residents across the Blue Mountains and Penrith areas to take meaningful action in solidarity with First Nations peoples. With the Uluru Statement from the Heart as a framework, the 'Walking Together' workshop is interactive and facilitates relationships, understanding, and a sense of purpose for non-Indigenous Australia to walk together with First Nations peoples. Together we will take meaningful, appropriate action in line with the calls for ‘Voice, Treaty, and Truth’ and gain a deeper sense of who we are as a nation.

With an upcoming referendum on an Indigenous Voice to Parliament, now is this time for us all to better understand the Statement, and how we can take action together for a just future for all.

The Walking Together program has been developed by Nicole Laupepa and Jacqui Parker through Father Chris Riley's Youth Off the Streets, with the Sydney Alliance's work around the Uluru Statement. This training is sponsored by the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies, hosted by Springwood Uniting Church, and supported by Plus61J Media.

Please note, this workshop is only available for persons aged OVER 18 years old. Registrations are essential. The workshop has been designed for a non-Indigenous audience. Please reach out to Jess at jharrison@sydneyalliance.org.au with any questions you may have.

Testimonials from past participants-
"I loved that the workshop was so inclusive. The exploitation of one group is the exploitation of us all."
“I loved the mix of personal experience and history of First Nations people. I left feeling so moved emotionally and so informed on how to take practical steps towards reconciliation."
“I liked that my organisation is taking responsibility and progressing in its cultural responsibility”
