In the wake of the #MeToo movement, more women found the courage to speak about gendered violence. But for many, speaking out came at an enormous personal cost. Silenced explores how defamation laws have increasingly been used to intimidate, punish and silence victim-survivors, while exposing the profound emotional, financial and professional toll these legal battles can take.

Featuring the stories of advocates and survivors including Jennifer Robinson, Brittany Higgins and Amber Heard, the film asks powerful questions about justice, power and whose voices are believed.

At WAM, we know the importance of creating spaces where women are heard, believed and supported. At its heart, Silenced is a call to listen, believe and act. It challenges us to consider whose voices are heard, whose are dismissed, and what it takes to create systems that truly support victim-survivors.
