Thriving Through Challenges and Change: Lessons from Science and Life - Community Evening
Description
Life rarely unfolds as planned. Change, challenge and uncertainty touch us all – yet most of us are never taught how to navigate them well.
This special community evening brings people together for connection, reflection and conversation. Dr Lucy Hone will share a short, engaging presentation drawing on decades of research and lived experience to explore how people cope with adversity, adapt to change, and keep going when life feels hard.
Following the presentation, Lucy will be in conversation with Mount Aspiring College principal Nicola Jacobsen, exploring what resilience looks like in real life - in families, schools and communities - and what genuinely helps people through times of challenge and change.
Known globally for her TED Talk The Three Secrets of Resilient People, Lucy translates science into clear, compassionate insights that resonate across ages and life stages. This is not about quick fixes or forced positivity, but about understanding what supports us as humans, individually and collectively, when life doesn’t go to plan.
Expect a warm, thoughtful and inclusive evening that offers perspective, reassurance and a sense of shared humanity - a chance to listen, reflect, and be part of a meaningful community conversation.
Doors open 6:30PM, Dr Lucy's presentation will begin at 7:00PM.
