Event description

You’re invited! Wānanga & Table Talk: Connecting and Sharing Stories about the effects of Period Poverty in Community 💬

Across Tāmaki Makaurau, people are struggling to access the period products they need. To understand this issue and drive change, we need to listen to lived experiences and bring these stories to the forefront.

At the last AGM, Te Ohu Tāmaki Makaurau committed to an Auckland-wide listening campaign on period poverty. To start the campaign, the Research Action Group is hosting a wānanga and Table Talk on Tuesday 4th March and invites you to join us!

This is an opportunity to kōrero, whakawhanaungatanga, learn together, and share stories about how menstruation and accessing period products is impacting participation in local community and wider society.

Event Details

📍 Location: Haven Avondale. 1855 Great North Road, Avondale, Auckland 1026, New Zealand
📆 Date: Tuesday 4th March
Time: 11am to 12:30pm
🎟️ Who’s Invited? Alliance members, community leaders, and anyone with a story or passion for menstrual equity!

What’s a Table Talk?

A Table Talk is a structured but informal conversation where people share their real experiences around a key issue—in this case, the affects of period poverty. This is a chance to speak openly about menstruation and how it affects your community, whānau or workplace in a safe, supportive space, and help surface the stories that need to be heard.

Why attend?

Wānanga: Take part in a Table Talk—no experience needed, just an open heart
Share & listen: Learn and build understanding by breaking the taboo surrounding menstruation through others' stories.
Drive change: Your stories will shape the movement and build the case for action!

This is a space for everyone! whether you have a personal experience to share, want to listen and learn, or are keen to support the kaupapa.

Please RSVP by Monday 3 March for attendance.
