As crisp winter settles over Naarm/Melbourne, come and spend a warming afternoon in Footscray with a mini festival celebrating beautiful, dreaming music. All afternoon, you'll hear music from Genevieve Fry, ruffles, Willebrant, Clariloops and Amy Archer. Chairs will be provided, and there will be ample space to lie down or sit on the ground to soak up the music however you feel comfortable. Bring pillows, blankets, eye masks, whatever will make your nests snug and warm for an afternoon of immersive ambient music. Set against Melbourne's wintery charm, this event invites you to immerse yourself in beautiful sounds that reflect the quiet power of the cold months.

About our artists:
Genevieve Fry is a multi-instrumentalist and composer based in Naarm. Interested in exploratory music drawing inspiration from the natural world, their soundscapes encourage an inward journey touching on deep time, memory and sense of place. In both solo and collaborative contexts across the experimental, contemporary, and improvisation scenes, Genevieve layers textures of harp, recorder, synthesizer and voice. As well as being the writer for post-ambient project CHWH, Genevieve has performed and collaborated with Hantu, On Diamond, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard (Hear My Eyes; Suspiria), Grand Salvo, Manisha Anjali, Outer Urban Projects and Geoffrey O’Connor as well as internationally based Taylor Mac (US) and Four Larks Theatre (US).

Willebrant is the ambient field drone project of Naarm/Melbourne bassist and producer Karl Willebrant. Willebrant creates immersive textures and emotive expanses that allow the listener to conceive a visual experience through the mind's eye, traversing soundscapes and drones utilizing bass guitars, found instruments, synths, and field recordings. Willebrant has released numerous independent and label recordings, including collaborations with various ambient/electro artists from Europe, the US, India and Australia with local artists such as Black Light Ghost, IKSRE, jazz trumpeter Paul Williamson and contemporary/classical guitarist Ken Murray.

ruffles is a meanjin/naarm multi-instrumentalist who puts improvisation at the centre of their practice. A co-curator of monthly live ambient night SIGNALS, he likes exploring analog drone, spacious harmonies, deep bass, delay and breath.. and who knows? Maybe even a special guest or two?

Clariloops is the moniker of Naarm/Melbourne-based producer Ruby Ester Mae. With a background in classical music and a passion for electronic production, Ruby combines layers of warm clarinet with lush synthesised sounds to create undulating soundscapes. For this event, she will perform with Amy Archer, a composer, sound designer, producer and cellist whose works span over many creative fields, including compositions for contemporary dance (Yellow Wheel’s Trip the light 2024, Muse Festival 2024, Belong Dance Theatre), graduate animations, and other varying visual media. Combining lush string and vocal arrangements with synthesis and more electronic textures, she creates a unique sound palette which ranges from ambient soundscapes to high-energy rhythmic pieces.

About the space:
Bluestone Church Arts Space has ample parking available. On the weekend, parking on Hyde St is restriction-free, there are also approx. 30 spaces available behind the venue on Lawson Place. The venue is also a short walk from Footscray Train Station.
The event is strictly no alcohol, feel free to bring any other drinks and snacks to enjoy with the music.
