Event description

Crisis and Hope: In conversation with Shankari Chandran

Shankari is the winner of the Miles Franklin Award in 2023 for Chai Time at Cinnamon Gardens and has also written Song of the Sun God and The Barrier. Her forth novel, Safe Haven, will be released in June this year.

Her novels explore the human crises unleashed by war; the impacts on individuals, families and communities; the challenges faced by asylum seekers and migrants as they try to hold onto history and heritage while adapting to life in a new country. Memory, connection and a commitment to justice and hope are woven throughout her writing.
