Kids Australian Animals in Watercolour at the EcoClassroom Sanctuary
Event description
Create watercolour art of Australian Animals with artist Zinia King.
Learn the fundamentals of watercolour by playing around with colouring mixing within a circle. You will then draw an animal of your choosing within another circle in Zinia’s pen-pattern technique and colour-in their drawings with your new watercolour painting skills.
As part of the workshop you can explore the sanctuary learning about the local native plants and animals, and select your own plant materials to draw inspiration from.
Learn from artist Zinia King who is passionate about Australian flora and fauna, and creates artwork to inspire a deeper appreciation of Australia’s natural beauty.
The EcoClassroom Sanctuary at Tatachilla Lutheran College is a 3.37 ha revegetated site, modelled on natural ecosystems that once existed in the McLaren Vale region. The sanctuary is home to native fauna including endangered Brush-Tailed Bettongs, Long-Nosed Potoroos and Tammar Wallabies, as well as lizards, frogs and birds throughout. The workshop space is a rammed earth sustainable building connected to the plants and animals surrounding.
Suitable for: children and teenagers aged 8-16 (optionally adult attendance if you think it's suitable or necessary; adults are welcome to sit nearby and enjoy the Sanctuary).
We have First Nations sponsored places available, and may be able to offer sponsored places for those struggling financially.
Please contact Dani Austin at eco@tatachilla.sa.edu.au for more details or if you have any questions.
This event is supported and subsidised by the City of Onkaparinga and Willunga Environment Centre in partnership with Tatachilla Lutheran College.
