Event description

This one day workshop will suit people who want to experiment and have fun with watercolour. We will spend the day trying out a few different playful watercolour techniques, including negative painting, background effects, splatter etc.

Bring your reading glasses if you need to use them! Bring snacks and lunch.

Materials List
The quality of art supplies makes a difference. "Student" grade supplies are cheaper than "Artist" grade, but lower in quality. The list below is provided as guidance but please do not feel obliged to purchase expensive materials.
General supplies: brushes (small, medium, large), palette, towel/rag, small spray bottle, mug/jar for washing brushes.

Paper: Good quality watercolour paper is usually thick and absorbent (300 gsm). It can be smooth (cold press) or somewhat rough (hard press). It is generally expensive! You might want to use less expensive watercolour paper (~180-200 gsm) but be warned that some techniques require thicker paper.

Paints: Good quality brands, such as Winsor & Newton and Daniel Smith, are preferred by artists and are generally expensive. Bring whatever watercolour paints you have on hand. If you have watercolour pencils, you can bring them along to give them a try.

Optional items: Sketchbook or sketch pad, graphite pencils (a range e.g., 2H, HB, 2B), sharpener, eraser, clipboard, ruler. Fineline pens of different thicknesses. Good quality pens are ideal as they are quick drying, waterproof and archival.

Venue: Apple Blossom Farm is an inspiring location for art classes. This amazing garden was featured in Gardening Australia Magazine April 2023 edition. You can find out more about Apple Blossom Farm and can subscribe to their gardening newsletter here:

Parking: Street parking on Hellessey Road and Glenlusk Road, outside Collinsvale Primary School.

Conditions: A minimum of 6 participants are required for this class to go ahead. No refunds after the 21-day minimum notice period has expired. Please do not attend if you are unwell.
Payment: Payment in full is required to secure your place. If you would prefer paying by direct bank transfer to avoid fees, please contact Tanya to make arrangements.
