The Great Waterbug Hunt

Calling all budding scientists, nature lovers, and curious kids! 🌿🔬

Join the Upper Plenty Merri Catchments Landcare Group for our 2nd Annual Waterwatch Day. This is a rare opportunity for children to step away from screens and get hands-on with nature under the guidance of a professional scientist.

What will we do? We are thrilled to be joined by Trevor Hausler (MCMC Waterwatch Coordinator), who will guide the families on how to:

• Go Collecting: Safely enter the creek to collect samples and catch "Waterbugs" (aquatic macroinvertebrates).

• Analyze: Use scientific equipment to sort and identify the bugs.

• Diagnose: Use our findings to determine the actual health of our local creek!
