Waterway Tales: First Nations River Stories

Event description

Step aboard the Popeye and embark on an extraordinary journey with Waterway Tales: The Floating Stage, a unique event series that forms a highlight of the Nature Festival, supported by The Office for Aging Well. Two unique 90-minute experiences, each discovery cruise offers a unique perspective of the Popeye and the River Torrens / Karrawirra Pari, blending the tranquillity of Adelaide's waterways with the rich tapestry of storytelling and performance. As you float serenely along the river, take in the city’s beauty from a fresh, captivating angle and deepen your connection with nature.

Through this 90min tour experience you'll traverse the waters of deep-time, with each performance offering a blend of awe-inspiring tales and a reflection on Kaurna life before European settlement. Through creative story-telling, come on this adventure of our waterways with generous insights into traditional, cultural and personal significance. Learn about Kaurna’s history, culture, and achievements and see how creative arts have a central role to play in reconciliation.

Designed as an intergenerational adventure, Waterway Tales invites you to bring your family- bring your grandkids- along for an unforgettable voyage. Together, you'll traverse the waters of time, with each performance offering a blend of awe-inspiring tales and joyous fun.
