Way of the Cross 2026 - Official Opening
Description
'The Way of the Cross' is about going on a pilgrimage - walking the path Jesus walked on the day of the Crucifixion and beyond, beginning with Condemnation and ending with Resurrection. In ancient times, people would travel to Jerusalem to take this journey as an embodied experience of faith/spirituality. In the 13th Century, to help people who couldn't travel to Jerusalem, St. Francis of Assisi set up 'Stations of the Cross' around the walls of the church, enabling all people to enter this embodied experience. It is an opportunity for contemplation on Christ's pilgrimage in relation to our own lived experiences,
We are delighted to bring this pilgrimage to Margaret River this Easter, with thanks to Nari Jones for curating, Rev Don Dowling for directing, Margaret River Uniting Church for hosting, and our 15 talented artists for saying, "Yes!"
Our evening will include a Welcome to Country by the Undalup Association, an opening address by Artist and Theologian Rev Dr Doug Purnell OAM (video), a shared Bread and Wine supper, time to walk the 15 stations of the 'Way of the Cross', meeting the Artists along the way, while soaking in their creativity and wisdom.
Our lineup includes the following talented Artists: Dr Haya Hagit Cohen, Rene Noell, Dylan Nietrzeba, Silvia Busetto, Maureen Munro, Linda Blyth, Rev Don Dowling, Lauren Wilhelm, Rev Dr Robert Hoskin, Ned Reilly, Nancy Tost, Joanna Alferink, Sue Brown, Michael Bosich, and Aimee Bosman.
