Wayfinding Workshop: Build Your Tech Roadmap
Event description
Do you feel like you're fighting your tech?
You didn’t sign up to wrestle with logins, forms and reports. Yet every week you lose hours to clunky systems, duplicate data and tickets that bounce around. The tools were meant to help, but they’ve become more work. It isn’t you. Our sector has been pushed to buy more software instead of building capability. This workshop gives you time, clarity and a practical way forward. Map the friction, name the patterns and leave with next steps your team can act on.
Interactive workshop specifically for NFPs
The Wayfinding Workshop is an active journey of discovery. Over two hours, we will create a safe and collaborative space to be honest about what's not working and to get creative about a better future.
We want you to leave feeling understood, empowered, and with a clear sense of direction.
Specifically:
A clear, shared map of your team’s / organisation's current technology challenges.
A co-created vision for a future where technology amplifies your mission.
The realisation that your problems are systemic, not unique failures.
A tangible sense of the gap between where you are and where you want to be.
A feeling of agency and clarity to take the next step.
Who should attend?
This workshop is designed for leaders, managers, and staff from NFPs who are:
Frustrated by technology that hinders rather than helps.
Feeling cynical after past negative experiences with tech projects.
Passionate about their mission but feel held back by their tools.
Looking for a clear path forward but don't know where to start.
About your facilitator
Steven Hodgskin (BCom, GradDipPsych, PMP) co-founded Zentient after witnessing too many incredible NFPs being held back by technology that was supposed to help them. With experience as a management consultant and volunteer crisis supporter, he brings both strategic expertise and deep sector understanding. Steven's approach is empathetic, human-first, and focused on building your capability, not your dependence.
Why we’re doing this
We're Zentient, WA's first tech consulting social enterprise. We've worked with organisations from Lifeline WA to Teach Learn Grow, and we've learned that transformation starts with understanding, not solutions. Our commitment to the sector has been recognised through a State Government Innovation Booster Grant (2024) and by WASEC, where we were a finalist for the Emerging Social Enterprise of the Year award (2025).
This workshop is our way of sharing what we've learned. No strings attached. If you leave with clarity and confidence about your next steps, we've succeeded - whether those steps involve us or not.
