Insights and inspirations from prominent business leaders

The new Entrepreneur Space in the High School Library provides the perfect venue for an interactive and informative evening with speakers on Zoom and in person.

Hilton Nathanson

Hilton Nathanson is an entrepreneur, investor and philanthropist. He is a regular speaker and lecturer in schools and business schools, helping mentor individuals in their personal career development.

Originally from Perth, Hilton arrived in London in 1992 and spent his first years working in financial markets before embarking on a career as a hedge fund manager.  He subsequently founded Marble Bar Asset Management where he has been Chairman since 2013.

Throughout his career, Hilton has taken an active interest in the psychology of decision-making, leading him to undertake an Executive Masters in Consulting and Coaching for Change from Insead Business School in 2015. His research cemented his belief that unintentional behaviours can affect the ability of individuals to be successful in pursuit of their goals. He has been interested in the philosophy and analysis of success for more than a decade, and has studied and lectured on issues including self-awareness, good judgment and decision-making. In 2020 his production company, Rattle&Hum Films, released a feature in partnership with Screen Australia called Chasing Wonders at the Adelaide Film Festival which explores how sets of unjustified beliefs can limit our ability to make authentic decisions and reach our full potential.

Hilton founded the Rosemarie Nathanson Charitable Trust in 2004, which supports a range of organisations that advance the welfare and education of young people and help them gain life skills through non-formal education and training. He lives in London with his wife and children and is an avid cricket fan, a keen sailor and a ferocious reader.

Steve Kerbel

Steve Kerbel’s early career life saw him work as a storeman before directing concrete manufacturing companies within the family business, which was founded in 1902. As newlyweds, he and his wife Julie wanted a balance between growing their financial independence beyond a Kruger Ran and continuing with their passions, such as scuba diving and photography.

Breaking the chain of 5 generations of Kerbels in Port Elizabeth, Steve and Julie started over in Perth, this time with a small bank account, a gold Kruger Rand (and some diving equipment). The last 20 years has included buying a family home, starting a business, growing the business, raising 4 kids (mostly Jules) and advising clients, all done while staying true to Steve’s key value of 'live for today, save for tomorrow'.

Today, Steve spends much of his time helping his clients make the best decisions that they can regarding growing and protecting their wealth. Steve also mentors and monitors other advisers from his office in Blythe Avenue, just up the road from Carmel.

With a deep gratitude and knowledge that G-D is in control of the big stuff (okay all the stuff), Steve lives by the great words of the little train: "I think I can".
