Millinery meets wearable art in this action packed introduction to blocking, wirework and making a headdress. Learn useful millinery (hat-making) techniques with re-imagined materials to create your own headdress or hat under the guidance of two costume and wearable art experts.

Suitable for anyone interested in millinery, design, costume and sculpture, participants will learn the fundamentals of millinery such as blocking different materials, wirework, decorating and finishing. With a focus on utilising recycled materials and accessing millinery skills on a budget.  Let your imagination run wild to create an amazing hat, fascinator, headdress or piece of wearable art.

Sarah Seahorse is Melbourne’s neon saturated award winning wearable artist, costume designer and craftivist specialising in wearable art that creates strong social, environmental and political commentary.
Sarah and creative design partner Luna Aquatica won the International Design Award for Australia & the South Pacific at the prestigious World of Wearable  Arts (WOW) Awards in Wellington, New Zealand in 2015 for their recycled  textile creation “The Stitch Witch”.
