In this class you will work with a variety of plant fibres to weave yourself into this beautiful and practical natural basket known as a melon basket.  Feel the rhythm, add layers and create a unique piece of poetry in 3D.

Zimmi will guide you step by step through this simple process to make sure that everyone walks away with a finished basket.
All materials and equipment will be supplied….what you will learn will allow you to forage and prep the materials for yourselves from your local environment.

With over 28 years experience of making, exhibiting and teaching basketry and fibre art Zimmi has a wealth of knowledge on Australian natural fibre basketry.

Her teaching techniques are flexible and broad, speaking to each students individual way of learning.  Zimmi will breakdown each stage of the making process so that students can work methodologically or experimentally through the the basket. Zimmi will also share her knowledge of the history of Australian basketry, terminology and ethics.
