Weaving Circles Armidale
Event description
Murawin & Weaving Our Stories are running free weaving circles in Armidale this school holiday period.
These weaving circles are a safe space for women and girls of all ages and backgrounds to have a yarn while engaging in a tactile and culturally significant activity. Murawin & Weaving Our Stories acknowledge the deep cultural significance of weaving in Aboriginal Culture and position our weaving circles as a way for all people to connect with, and honour that heritage.
The workshops will be led led by Jacinta Vale, a First Nations Artisan and Weaving Facilitator from the Dunghutti/Gumbayanngiir community. Inspired by other weavers across Countries, Jacinta shares her weaving knowledge and cultivates an atmosphere that encourages connections, social engagement, and establishes a warm and safe environment for all participants to gather.
Open to women and girls of all ages and backgrounds.
